test, tears & triumph

My life changed forever when I heard these words:
I. Want. A Divorce.
As a woman of faith, I prayed and trusted that divorce wasn’t going to be my reality. I remember walking into my bedroom closet and all of his clothes were gone.
For those of you who know there are many types of trauma. The one I want to talk about is emotional trauma. According to the Center for Integrated Health Solutions. In the United States 61% of men and 51% of women report exposure to at least one lifetime traumatic event.  I’m part of that 51%

The emotional trauma of going through a divorce, left me in a state of hopelessness, severe depression, feelings of fear, loneliness, doubt and thoughts of suicide.
I live for many years in uncertainty. Uncertain if I had the courage to begin again, the courage to walk the next years alone. I questioned myself if I have the power and determination to move forward.
I pride myself in helping others… but doing those moments I was the one in need of help.

Before I could ever learn to rebuild my life and before anyone could love and appreciate me the way I needed to be loved and appreciated, I had to be introduced to Paulette first.
I had to learn how to appreciate the small steps I was taking.
But it took a minute because in between those little steps there was a battle going on in my mind. A fight to determine who I was vs who people said I was & even what my experiences told me vs what God said about me.
In the process, I forgot my own needs, desires and aspirations because I wanted the acceptance by others.
And somewhere in between the pain, heartbreak and the feeling of fear, I lost myself. In losing myself I forget my value, to be honest I didn’t know my worth because when I looked at myself in the mirror, I saw myself through the lenses of others. Those eyes told me I was unloved, broken and scared and unrepairable.

After being married for twenty-three years to a pastor and experiencing one of the darkest moments in my life, I refuse to believe that God didn’t allow me to go this in vain. I believe that every pain and heartbreak I was experiencing had a purpose.
I had to learn how to love Paulette, even with all my flaws, all of my short comings, I had to love me and see myself the way God saw me.
I had to learn how to feed myself the right diet because I was malnourished. I was feeding off fear, doubt, lies, despair and depression.
I had to replenish my soul. I had to learn to forgive the man that caused me the most hurt, forgive the man that changed my life forever. I had to forgive him of the words he spoke into my spirit and I had to forgive myself of allowing those words to shape me into a belief system that almost destroyed my life.
I learned that I couldn’t give anyone power over me anymore. I was determined to change the course of my life- in doing this that meant I had to take care of me. Take care of me emotionally, spiritually and financially.
I had to learn to encourage myself, I had to face my future with boldness and confidence.
I realized that I had to acknowledge my faults, but I also had to acknowledge and accept my strength, my power and my greatness.

I learned that if I only accepted my flaws, I was not being truthful to myself. I learned that I owned it to myself to celebrate Paulette. I had to learn something I hadn’t did before and that was to love me.
For years, I had allowed other people to down grade me to practically nothing, but I learned that God still had a purpose for my life. He had more for me to do.
I learned not to live in the past but allow the past to propel me into my future.

My passion for helping women comes from her own personal trauma. When human beings experience trauma, it’s not uncommon for their lives to unravel. As a life coach, I pride herself on helping my clients gain clarity, find hope and become the best version of themselves.

During that time, I was faced with only two options: Kill myself or believe that God had another plan for my life- I chose the latter!
As God helped me heal, I learned that my voice needed to be heard and my story had the power to change lives. With a newfound resolve and hope, I reinvented who I was through transformational storytelling.
Women ask me how did I overcome those challenges?
I tell them, I was committed to doing the transformational work that required me to go deep within myself and by getting clearer direction from God for my life.
My transformation didn’t happen at once. I went from a crawl, to a stand, to a step, to a walk and then I began to soar!

Virtual Book Tours
Hey, it’s all about creating buzz for your books and getting you the publicity, you need through bloggers and radio interviews. Virtual book tours feature authors promoting books by making guest appearances during a set time frame on blogs, podcasts, radio shows, social networks or other venues. The author goes from blog to blog sharing information about their books. A virtual book tour is a popular book marketing tactic; authors reach their book’s target audience through online conversations, reviews, guest posts and book excerpts that can lead to sales—all without leaving your home.
Speaking
One of my greatest joys has been having the privilege of watching God change women's lives: setting the captive free, mending broken hearts, or opening the eyes of those who are new to hearing the gospel message. My passion is to tell women the truth from His word. It’s in God’s word that we’ll find everything we need to live, survive and become all that God intends for us to be in Him.

I'd love to share His word with you!
